Every year when we send out Christmas cards, I write up some little insert,
picture timeline, etc. to go along with the card. This year I didn’t, and it
was actually quite nice! Rather, I just decided to do a little recap of the
year and post it on the blog – my four blog followers are so excited!
In January we lost a very special member of our family. You can read a
little tribute to PB here. We have missed PB this year, but we know he’s “at home”
with Jesus and we’ll see him again someday.
Mark and I also celebrated our 13th anniversary in January. While my parents
watched the kids, we took a little trip to the Charlottesville area for a hike,
a visit to Devils Backbone, and a stay at a local bed and breakfast.
In April we took the girls to Ocean City for a few days over spring break,
and Lyla started her spring soccer season with Mark as coach.
In May we took some more hikes (a family favorite activity), and we
celebrated Nina’s 9th birthday with a long weekend visiting Busch Gardens, Water
Country, and Hartfield.
With school just ending and June almost complete, Nina broke her ankle on
both sides and dislocated her growth plate. It’s hard to mention this even in a
nutshell. There was so much involved (visit July’s blog month), but if I
attempt to keep it in a nutshell, Nina was a trooper. She spent six weeks in a
hard cast which took almost the entirety of her summer. After a few weeks she
was allowed to transition to a waterproof cast which changed the dynamic of our
summer drastically, but it was still a tough six weeks.
Cayenne also turned two in July. While she comes with a bit of
drama and is definitely the baby of the family, she continues to add a lot of
personality and joy to our family.
