Raven's Rock

The Monday after Nina and I got home from the track meet was President’s Day, and the girls and Mark had the day off, so after I finished teaching that morning, we headed out to Raven’s Rock for a family hike.  Raven’s Rock is an awesome hike and one of our favorite “go-to” places.  It’s got a nicely established path with some challenging uphills, but then it will level off for a break before going back up again.  It’s also a great hike to bring dogs on, and Cayenne loves coming there with us.

The view from the top is nice, even in winter.  We had an unseasonably warm day for hiking in February, so that made it even better!  The girls refuel at the top with a little snack,  we enjoy the view for a bit, and then we head back down the way we came.

Once we get back to the car, after several hours hiking, we’re all ready to stop off at the nearby Bear Chase Brewery for some tasty food and beverage.  The pizza and enormous Bavarian pretzel hit the spot but didn’t last long.  We had all worked up quite the appetite.  The brewery is also very dog friendly, so Cayenne was even allowed inside the area where the music was playing, fireplaces were going, and food was served.  It was just the thing to polish off a fun, active weekend!
