February is Flying

For being the shortest month on the calendar, sometimes February can feel like the longest.  You’re in the phase where you’re kind of done with winter, hopeful for spring, and most definitely ready for longer days of sunlight and more time to be outside.  Normally, February kind of drags by.  This year, February is flying.  I can’t believe we’re already in the middle of the month!

Super Bowl was obvioulsy the first weekend in February, so we planned to have over the family and a neighbor.  The day was cold and rainy, but that didn’t stop Mark from firing up his smoker for some great wings.  We feasted on tons of great food and enjoyed the game and the company, so it was a fun night for all!

The weekend following Super Bowl was the first competition for Nina’s cheer team.  It was also the weekend that I was booked to be out of town all day Saturday and Sunday for an a training weekend to become an Advanced Instructor for Body Flow.  Because I was going to miss the competition, Mark had to learn how to do “cheer hair” so it would be competition ready for Saturday.  Her team had a run through of their routine on the Friday night prior that all parents were invited to, so Mark got his practice doing her hair for that before the big event on Saturday.  :)

He sent me a picture while I was at my training of her ponytail for Saturday.  He used the hair straightener on her hair and then got it in a nice ponytail!  Maybe I’ll have to delegate cheer hair to him in the future!  :)

Not one to be left out, Cayenne also likes to get her fur done.  Of course she does...
Valentine’s Day was right around the corner after that busy weekend, and Lyla had come up with a very original idea for her class Valentine box.  She told me she wanted to make a horse Valentine box, and I tried to discourage her from it, thinking that it would be too hard to make.  She got her shoebox and her supplies and created this little box completely on her own.  I thought it was the cutest little Valentine horse box ever!  She was very proud! :)
The girls enjoyed some fun treats in the morning for Valentine’s Day, then Mark and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner at home later that evening, so everyone got to feel the love in some way or another.
