Since Nina’s birthday fell on a Monday, we waited until the weekend to celebrate with friends and family. Normally we’re at Hartfield for Memorial Day weekend, but everyone had committments here, so we all stayed put this year. All the cold and rain from the previous two weeks pushed out of here and it was hot and sunny for the weekend. Friday after school the girls got it started off playing in the water with friends.
Mark had a tournament Saturday and Sunday for the team he coaches, so it was just us girls getting ready to host some of Nina’s friends from school for rollerskating and a sleepover to celebrate her birthday. With exception of two or three other people that were there in short spurts, the girls had the rollerskaing rink completely to themselves (probably due to the holiday weekend and the beautiful weather), so they requested all the songs they wanted, were as loud as they wanted, and skated as long as they could stand it.
After skating, we piled back in the car for probably what was one of the loudest car rides of my life then made it back home just as Mark was arriving with the pizza.
They ate dinner and had cake, Nina requested an emoji cake this year, then we geared up for lots more energy and eventually some sleeping!
After the girls all went home on Sunday, we cleaned up and regrouped a bit, we made it over to the pool for a couple hours.
On Memorial Day, Monday, we rounded out the week of celebrating by meeting up at my parents house to celebrate Ryleigh and Nina’s birthdays.
It’s hammock season again, and time for more rides on the “Popinator” so this time Lyla brought a roll of 50 pennies with her to feed that Popinator. We all know the Popinator can’t resist pennies!
There was a cookout, a handstand challenge (which G won), a headstand challenge...
…and attempts made at both!
Of course there were presents, cake, and tree climbing.
Finally, they rounded things out by getting the old Barbie Jeep out of the garage. I think there’s been a slight change since Nina first tried out the Jeep! :)
All in all, it was a great afternoon with family and a good way to finish off the week of birthday celebrating!
