Well, that was quick. The sun has set on our time as a snail home. On Sunday we hiked back down to the river and returned Nini and Lili to their real home. Probably due to the fact that we aren’t equipped with a proper aquarium, Nini and Lili started not to look so good (as if snails ever really look good in the first place), and Mark and I actually thought that Lili had died. Over lunch on Sunday, we talked with Nina about the snails and how we could either keep them and see how long they survived, or we could take them back to their real home in the river and let them go. She made the decision to take them back to the river where they could hopefully live for several years to come. So, we took Nini, Lili, and what may be their eggs back down to the river and let them out right at the spot we found them. Almost immediately, Lili perked up, came out of her shell, and both she and Nini started burrowing in the sand, so we know both snails were happy to be back home, and Nina felt good about her decision to return the snails back to the river.
Does that mean you're getting a dog sooner than you thought?? :)
