Bethany Beach 2018 - Part 2

We were at the beach over Father’s Day, so we had donuts on the balcony, Mark played golf at a course he had his eye on, and I got to grab a photo of Mark and the girls before we walked down the beach for music and ice cream. 

Every day we played at the beach, and the girls and Mark had fun riding the waves.

  

 

The evenings were beautiful.  After the beach, then the pool, then food, and showers we enjoyed the beautiful breezy evenings for walking down the beach.

Sometimes we’d get dinner and/or shop down by the boardwalk, and two evenings we played Bingo on the pool decks in front of our building.  It was actually a lot of fun!  Nina and I even each won a game and earned a little Sea Colony prize.  

  

On Thursday morning, the girls participated in the sand castle contest down on the beach.  Nina made a sand camel, and Lyla made a mermaid.

 

 

Thursday evening was the awards for the sand castle contest (both girls got Honerable Mention).  There were some very impressive sand castles in the contest!  Following the awards, they had marshamellows and a bonfire on the beach. A DJ is there playing music, and the kids had a fun time getting marshamellows, playing around etc.  

 

  

Since we were leaving on Saturday, Friday was our last full day at the beach, and the weather was very windy and somewhat rainy so people weren’t down on the beach.  We decided instead to visit some shops that we had heard about.  One place was a big Country Store in Fenwick, and along with all kinds of cool food, gifts, etc, they had some amazing fudge!  Of course, we had to get some.  Everyone picked their flavor, and it didn’t last long!

 

We used that evening to head to dinner at Bethany Boathouse which was one of our favorites from last year, then we went down to the boardwalk one last time for the girls to get Henna tattoos and one last big ice cream cone.  It was another great week at the beach, and I’m so thankful that we had this time to hang and have fun together as a family!

  

 

Bethany Beach 2018 - Part 1

We left the Saturday after the kids got out of school for our vacation to Bethany Beach.  We had such a great time there last year that we went back to stay in the same condo building and, again, we were really happy with our experience there in Sea Colony.  It has all the conditions we’re looking for to make for a fun week at the beach!

Immediately, the girls wanted to get in the water and start boogie boarding.  They both just love the ocean and play in it ALL DAY long!  They had so much fun riding the waves on boogie boards, just playing in the waves, etc.  

 

  

The weather was great, and we saw quite a few dolphins and porpoises while we were there.

  

Almost every evening, we’d walk down the beach to the boardwalk area to check out the shops, listen to music, and of course, get ice cream.  Nina and Lyla remembered a place on the boardwalk from last year that gave out monster sized cones.  So, it was on the top of their list to go back there.  The cones this year did not disappoint!  :)

  

Of course we also had to have beach donuts - a dozen didn’t last long!  

 

Each day pretty much had the same routine.  The girls would want to go down to the beach early in the morning to look for shells (they found some really cool ones this year). Then they’d come back up and get ready for the day at the beach, then we’d spend all day down at the beach.  We’d come back up to our condo for lunch, but then spend the rest of the afternoon swimming, walking on the beach, or playing paddleball (Mark and I’s favorite).  On most days, the girls would want to stop by the heated pool outside our condo that was right off the beach.  Needless to say, by the time dinner came around, they were exhausted!  

 

 

 

To enable them to ride the wave in longer, Mark would sometimes go out and give them a push as the wave swelled, then they could ride it all the way into shore.  They had a blast!

 

 

 

Trail Riding

Again this year, Lyla requested to go trail riding at the Marriott Ranch.  We had a great experience when we went there last year, so the day after school go tout, we had our trail ride scheduled.  We had a beautiful, sunny day, and our group consisted of just Lyla, Nina, Mouse, and I, and the two guides, so it was a great ride!

  

   

I snapped a couple pictures with my phone camera, but obviously I wasn’t trying to focus on taking pictures while riding.  It was beautiful scenery though - I wish I did have more pictures on the ride!

  

The ride lasted for 90 minutes, but before we even got in the car to head home, Lyla was asking about her next chance to ride.  The girl does love horse!
