Spring Sports

This spring has been quite busy with sports.  Even though it keeps up hopping, we love watching the girls do their thing, and we’re happy that they’ve both been really enjoying their teams.  Lyla had a new coach this year that she has really liked, and he’s done a great job challenging and motivating the girls.  Aside from a few games here or there when they’ve seemed “off” they’ve had a good seaon working together and have had a lot of fun.  Lyla’s been playing defender this year and has really enjoyed it. We’ve made our rounds to Richmond and Fredericksburg a few times in the past weekends, they competed in State Cup but lost in the quarter finals to a tough team, and we’re headed back down to Fredricksburg again this weekend for more.  At least we’ve enjoyed some nice spring days to be outside while watching!

Nina has been busy competing for her high school’s outdoor track team and loving it!  So far, they have had three meets, and Nina has been doing great.  She has been doing the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, high jump, and either the 4x100m relay or the 4x400m relay.  They participate in a meet with other area high schools once a week, and the final meet of the regular season will wrap up at the end of May.  Post season Regionals and States will run into June, and then school and sports will be over for a bit and we’ll be ready for a relaxing summer (since she isn’t competing with club this outdoor season).  We’ve been happy that being a part of the team has given her such a great connection to her high school despite being a virtual student, but we most definitely look forward to her experiencing all the other great aspects of high school next school year when they’re back in person full time.
